Everything I Need To Know About Weight Loss I Learned In VEGAS
Had a wonderful time Buddies. The best part was people watching. I learned a lot about myself while interacting with the other people staying at my hotel. There were 2 very different groups I learned a lot from. I call them the THINS and the THICKS.
The THINS were already at the spa no matter how early I got there. They had enjoyed an early morning workout before they headed off to breakfast. The THICKS were not seen until lunch time, they always had breakfast in bed. At the lunch buffet, the THINS marveled at the wide variety and fresh taste of the fruits and salads available. They had steamed veggies and grilled meats. The THICKS decided the plates were too small so they needed three, one for fried chicken and fried catfish, one for bread and pasta, the other for desserts.
The rest of the day the THINS were busy walking up and down the 5 miles of the strip eager to see and experience all that Vegas had to offer. The THICKS sat at the same penny slot machines all day and filled up on free drinks. By the end of the week the THINS were refreshed, invigorated and ready to go home. By the end of the week the THICKS were feeling sluggish, bored and ready to go home.
I learned that it’s all about choices.Do I choose to spend hours grazing at the all you can eat buffet, or do I choose to grab a quick salad and walk down to the wonderful free dancing waterfall show. Do I choose to call room service for breakfast in front of the TV or head down to the spa and sip on a fruit smoothie while the best looking man I ever saw massages my feet…..I choose to become one of the T.H.I.N.S. T.otally H.ealthy I.n-charge and N.ot S.uffering.
I know I can’t keep my weight off if I’m suffering and feeling deprived of the foods I want to eat all the time, so I have to come up with rewards, challenges, new recipes, new work out routines that will make life fun. That’s how the T.H.I.N.S. do it and I can do it too!

Wow, you could be a professional watcher, if there is anyone willing to pay for someone to come up with amazingly clear, sane, and totally on the money observations and definitions. Sounds like you are well on your way to being the thin you want to be!
i love the way you so succinctly put it, it’s all about choices.
Hey Dee,

What a way to enjoy a trip, spa and massages. I’m glad you had fun. I wish I were there. Glad your back with us!!!
I really missed you and your wonderful blogs! Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Vegas and are making all the right choices. It’s so great to have you back with us!!!
I hear you on that. I was worried the first time I went to vegas after I started my weight loss and I was shocked. I did eat at one buffet while I was there for a week (which I thought was pretty good) btu ti had healthy choices!! I lost 12 pounds while I was there!!! i was shocked, so though I may not be one of the THINS as you put it, I was out there walking the strip everyday!!!!
Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. When I visited Las Vegas, with my, at the time, three year old son, we walked, and walked, and walked. We walked from the Luxor to the Wynn Las Vegas for four days. But it was the best exercise ever. I would do it again with him anytime!
Hey Dee…. So glad you came back from your trip more positive than ever!!
You definatley deserved some pampering!
Glad you had fun on trip. It’s good to have you back. I loved your blog and the way you put things into perspective.
I read your blog the other day, but didn’t have time to comment. While I was walking yesterday…I started thinking about THINS…trying to remember what you had said…I started making up my own…it was funny…
I had to come back and read it again!
T.otally H.ealthy I.n-charge and N.ot S.uffering.
That is good…I will commit it to memory this time!
Thanks for sharing…and you’re right, we CAN do this THINS thing!
That was a great observation!! I love how you boiled it down to the choices we make because that is absolutely what life is about!
Dee, glad you had a great time there, by the way… I liked all the choices of the thins, that sounds like something the ”new” me would do
We have been watching the same groups Dee. LOL
I am going to Las Vegas in August. Looking forward to walking 10-12 miles a day.
Just know that you have a CHOICE gives you power. Rock on.
yes..this is very true girl….i too have been people watching…how about the line at the local buffets such as ryans steak house…which should be called something more like what it really is….a pig trough…you see alot of really fat people stuffing their plates…and their faces with some horribly unhealthy food…my husband made us go the other day…there were so many people (who all resembled cows..im talking about myself too…)lined up to go graze in the troughs….just to get their moneys worth (thats why my husband wants to go their…so he can get his moneys worth…) worth of what..clogged arteries?? heart attacks, diabetes?? i want to be a thin too…not super skinny…i want to be at my ideal weight…for me…so i can feel great and look great…. thanks for your insight…i also love your way with words….
Love your blog! What an inspiration you are!
You go, girl with that wonderful THIN attitude!
Have an awesome day!
(((HUGS)))

that was great.and so true. good luck to you:)
very intresting post to read !@
wow, what a post and very to the point. You are so right. I remember one time I was invited to eat some KFC with other mamas. Now, these chinese mama’s have no problemw ith weight so It hough, ok, let’s see how the THIN people do it. I was muttering and grumbling about how thin peoploe can just eat so much and why was life unfair. Did I have a shock waiting for me. They ordered lots of ick for the kids and it was all laid out on the table and I watched and saw that the THINs only took a little bit ofthings but most of them ate the soup (here in China, KFC offers soup, healthy) and only a few of the popcorn chicken. Well, that stopped the pity part for me. As I started watching more and nore people, I realized just as you so eloquently put it , there are two groups of people. Most THINs do not come by it naturally but have to watch it all the time and be careful in what they ate. It was inspriring to hear how you put it and how you let it affect you. When people talk about Vegas, it is always about gambling first and free buffet next. I love what you did and I know your body loved it even more! Here’s to soon being a THIN with you!
